Disaster Artist Non Spoiler Review
Once I heard about this film getting made I was intrigued as to see what direction they were going with, once I saw the casting I was just about sold on it, then came the trailer and I basically was ready to invest everything I had!
Disaster Artist is not what most people seem to think (a direct remake of The Room) but an actual behind the scenes/detailed look and insight into just how the original Room got made.
I usually do a what I liked and what I didn’t like about the films I review, however I genuinely had nothing I disliked from this, the Franco brothers chemistry was so good (I can just imagine how many times they both cracked up in laughter during filming most of the scenes) James as Tommy was perfect, honestly perfect and I hope he gets a lot of accolades for just how spot on a job he did, likewise for Dave who played Greg who was just as good, while this can be seen as somewhat of a joke film, they really acted the shit out of it and made it a pleasure to watch.
The many cameos from celebrities throughout the film was so fun, I love seeing some of our favorite Hollywood actors just have fun on a film.
The film does a fantastic job of paying homage to the original so if you hadn’t watched the original you can somewhat play catch up, this movie is insanely funny even having not watched The Room, however it’s 10x as funny if you have.
My biggest praise for this film would be how the addition of some genuinely sad/uplifting/uncomfortable scenes throughout all the humour, a film able to trigger many emotions for the audience is always better for me personally.
Now, after all that writing, people probably think I’m giving this a 10/10, however the only film close to that for me till this day is Shawshank Redemption 😛
I give this a 8.5/10 and absolutely recommend to all my followers if you’re looking for a good laugh.
Overall – 8.5 out of 10
Re-watch Worthy? – Yes
