Our friends from A Comic Shop highlight some of their top books for this week! We also add some of our own favorite titles to look out for.
From DC Comics we have New Guardians #21, in which purchasing this book at certain retailers earns you a replica Indigo Ring of Compassion. From their Vertigo line, we get Brother Lono #1 spinning off of the 100 Bullets storyline by Brian Azzarello. Batman and Batgirl #21 continues with Batman being confronted about his ability to cope with the loss of Damian.
Marvel Comics brought us Age of Ultron #10 which comes pre-bagged in black plastic. Aaron says it reminds him of a porno mag… hah! The bag is to prevent anyone from skimming through the book and spoiling the introduction of Angela from Spawn of Image Comics arriving to the Marvel Universe. This is also the final issue of that mini-series, so if you’ve been paying attention to the first nine issues, of course you need this one!
Superior Spider-Man #12 continues Spider-Man fending off against Spider-Slayer, who’s broken out of his death sentence in prison and powered up some of Spidey’s foes to take him on. Avengers #14 is the Infinity prelude gearing us up for Thanos’ return to Marvel. New Avengers #7 is suspected to allow Black Panther get his revenge Namor for what happened back in Avengers vs. X-Men. Uncanny Avengers #9 is also a sick story revolving Apocalypse brought to us by Rick Remender, whom we’ll be featuring next month after I see him
Aaron doesn’t mention it but I want to remind you that Captain Marvel #13 continues the ‘Enemy Within’ arc where her existence is on the line and she, along with the other Avengers, are being played into staying distracted from helping her body’s condition. Also, Indestructible Hulk #9 has a Daredevil cameo which is perfect because Mark Waid writes both books!
From the independent press, Max Brooks from World War Z brought to us Extinction Parade #1. The second volume of Saga from Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staples is also out for those collecting the trades. X-Files Season 10 #1 is meant to bring you a satisfying ending to the series. Aaron suspects that there’s going to be a surprise announcement next month at San Diego Comic Con for the X-files anniversary… Aaron didn’t mention one of my favorites, #Mind the Gap #11, and fan favorite Revival #11.
In a few days I’ll review some of these fantastic titles and bring back to you the results. Happy reading!
