DC Comics: Your Villains Have Arrived

01villains

September is going to be special at DC Comics where they’re giving a month of the year to those we love to hate, and hate to love, the notorious villains! As if our curiosity wasn’t peaked to see what occurs when Lex Luthor, LOBO, or The Joker take over a whole book during this New 52 era, each issue will get a unique 3-D motion cover… some of these images sweep me off my feet as I feel like DC Comics is exploiting simple visual appeal we loved and enjoyed from our childhood to attract us!

Villains Month is the kickoff of the New 52’s first universe-spanning event, Forever Evil, which will be anchored by a miniseries bearing that name from regular Justice League of America creative team writer Geoff Johns and artist David Finch. It all flows out of the events in this summer’s Justice League crossover “Trinity War” which involves Justice League, Justice League Dark, and Justice League of America.

It’s the third straight big September for DC Comics, following 2011’s controversial change up and New 52 introduction, which relaunched the entire DC Universe line five years into a new reality’s time line with issue #1’s, and last year’s #0 issues, which offered telling tales of the heroes’ pasts in the changed universe continuity setting.

Most of these issues will branch their corresponding primary headlining titles, which generally sell at the $3.99 price-point, meaning that [by my prediction] the profits and volume of units moved by stores will put DC Comics once again in position to dominate charts for the month of September.

I’m refraining so hard from calling my comic shop and telling them to put all of the issues in my box… If we find any more releases of additional 3-D covers, I’ll add them to the gallery here.
