In this week’s comic book releases, our friend Aaron from ‘A Comic Shop’ reviews and discusses Batman writer Scott Snyder’s new mini-series ‘Wake’ from DC’s Vertigo line. Two other small press/Independent books Aaron doesn’t mention that I’m looking forward to from Image Comics are the latest issues to ‘Mind the Gap’ and The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s ‘Thief of Thieves’.

Marvel’s top book for the week will probably be the new ‘X-Men’ title featuring art from the only trustworthy French person I know, Olivier Coipel. The book will feature an all female cast of superheroines and as such, all females that go to A Comic Shop today get a free copy of ‘X-Men’! I believe Aaron will also honor this deal for you gents that also show up dressed extremely feminine so leave your manhood at home if you want to save $3.99.

Marvel is also having their very last issue of Dark Avengers (formerly ‘Thunderbolts’) which I’m extremely thankful for, not because the title was starting suck, but because it tarnishes the great Dark Avengers title once amazingly done by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato Jr. a few years ago during Dark Reign/Siege.

DC Comics brings us ‘Justice League of America’ and the annual to both ‘Batman: The Dark Knight’ and ‘Catwoman’. Aaron mentions the annual to ‘Earth 2’ which I didn’t dig deep into reading since it was out of the New 52’s primary continuity but it features a new Batman so I’ll give it a shot.

Two other books that Aaron highlights are the latest issue to ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and a new ongoing book, ‘New Testament’, which by obvious title is a book of Biblical proportion, if you’re into that sort of thing. I’ll definitely check it out and get back to you folks.
